… or otherwise known as an ode to all coming out stories I’ve experienced to this day.
Back in March, I made a conscious decision to come out to you as a lifestyle blogger, which literally took me balls (and years) to come to terms with. It was a huge step forward for my overall happiness and I wouldn’t change anything! *no regrets*
Prior to that, my actual coming out moment was about 6 years ago and since today is the National Coming Out Day, I think it’s time for me open up a little bit more. So, grab some popcorn and get ready to peel another layer of Mr. Salt and Pepper away.
Once upon a time…
About 6 years ago, I moved to London seeking opportunities and overall happiness. The same year I started my degree and broke up with my girlfriend… Yes, girlfriend! *shook* FYI, I’m not going to talk about my sexuality here because it’s pretty obvious. *d’oh* However, I might talk about my previous relationships in my vlogs, which I’m planning to release in the next couple of months.*oops, cat got out of the bag, soz Kris Jenner*
Anyway, back to my coming out story. My first few years living in the Big Smoke were quite hard. A young immigrant guy moving to London to pursue his dreams… We have heard this story a thousand times before, right? But truthfully, my first 4 years here were kinda awful. At one point I was poor, homeless and crippled with anxiety… and to top it off, I was losing sight of who I really was or what I was meaning to do here. I have lost my path. This city was ready to swallow me up!
After graduating, I had gone through the darkest years of my life. I was surrounded by drains who sapped me dry and brought up all my insecurities. Crazy parties and wrong places consumed most of my time and energy, so I felt like I was going nowhere.
It was not until 2016 when I grabbed life by the balls and started making radical changes in my life.
Better days!
I looked back and searched for the real reason why I moved to London and re-discovered passions that were hiding in my subconsciousness for over a decade. I invested in my craft, launched my business and the rest is magic. *uses his full name as a spell*
This year, I started surrounding myself with people who lift me up and see the best in me. The work has finally brought joy to my everyday life and everything seems to be going in the right direction.
So, today I’m coming out to you as a Londoner. Someone who can proudly call this wonderful city his home. A place where my dreams are finally coming true, a place where I am living the dream. Ahhh, the Big Smoke!
