    Seashells and Sailors!

It’s been a week since I got back from sunny Portugal. I spent 10 days scouting around the artsy streets of Lisbon, eating my body weight in custard tarts and dancing to the cheesiest Eurovision songs. *Qélé, Qélé* Eurovision?! Yep, that’s right!

Last year, Salvador Sobral won the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, giving Portugal the opportunity to host this fabulous event in Lisbon. I remember watching Eurovision 2002 on telly and dreaming of seeing it live one day… So, 16 years later and I see myself waving my cute Lithuanian flag in the middle of Altice Arena. Who would have thought?! *ticks off his bucket list*

Apart from Eurovision, I was visiting my friend Carlota and her twin sister Constança. They live in Sintra which is about 30 minutes drive from Lisbon. From local fish markets to stunning beaches, I got to experience the authentic side of Portugal. Therefore, I’m super stoked to share some of my tips with you guys.

So, without further ado… Here’s my complete Lisbon city guide, featuring creamy custard tarts, jugs of sangria and everything else that is not related to Eurovision Song Contest. *hashtag booking his flight to Israel for 2019*

    Food

    • Pastéis de Belém – the best custard tarts in town! Flaky on the outside but creamy on the inside, these treats are heavenly delicious. *yummm* However, I would advise you to go there early to avoid queues or get takeaway and enjoy them next to the Belém Tower. *note, taken*
    • The Decandente – if you’re looking for a lunch spot that won’t break the bank, this restaurant might be the one. You can get a three-course lunch for €13. You can thank me later. *wink*
    • Este Oeste Pizza Sushi Cafe – as a fan of both Italian and Japanese cuisine, I find fusion restaurants either hit or miss. *sue me* But Este Oeste is definitely a hit as it takes the best of both worlds and creates dishes worth coming back for.

    Drink

    • Topo – happy hour drinks with stunning views? Yep, that’s the one!
(p.s. Netta Barzilai from Israel shot part of her Eurovision postcard on this rooftop bar)
    • PARK – great place to start your night out in Lisbon. DJ plays some Kaytranada and some sick tunes from the “Room 2” playlist on Spotify. Therefore, you’re in for a treat. *dances like his rent is due* Oh, and, order a glass of Poncha – it’s delish!
    • Trumps – the only gay bar in Lisbon that matters. *brings his sass on* It gets pretty crowded over the weekend but drinks are very affordable and drag acts will keep you entertained until early hours the next day!

    Touristy Things

    • São Jorge Castle – if there’s one touristy thing to do in Lisbon – that should be it. I spent a good few hours exploring the castle and its surroundings. STUN!
    • LxFactory – Lisbon’s answer to Wynwood. *c’mon, hipsters* Expect quirky art galleries, epic graffiti walls and sculptures that are larger than life!
    • Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) – as a huge fan of art museums, I was a bit disappointed. Not because of the actual place but by the fact that I went there on Tuesday – when it was closed! *sad face* Nevertheless, there is always something going on, not to mention the whole building being super instagrammable. *doing it for the gram*

    Outside Lisbon

    • Restaurante Toscano – fresh local fish restaurant, serving you more than just tilapia. This is a great lunch spot if you’re around Cascais and looking to indulge in a Portuguese kitchen. *enough with custard tarts*
    • Cascais Beach – salt in the air, sand in my hair. YASSS!
    • Sintra – pretty little historic town on the hill with a gorgeous castle and tons of authentic souvenir shops. Perfect day out on a Sunday? *hmmm*
