The Annual Last-Minute Father’s Day Gift Guide…

In a great tradition of “I’m always late for everything”, I’ve tried my best to avoid panic shopping but failed miserably! *yikes* There are so many cool brands out there that cater to men of all ages. Therefore, I’ve picked my current favourite gift sets for Father’s Day. *hint hint it’s this Sunday* So, without further distractions, here’s my Father’s Day grooming gift guide.

Vintage Rituals… For The Modern Man!

If you’ve been following my blog for quite some time, you probably heard of the fabulous British grooming brand Hawkins and Brimble. Their hair care products have natural ingredients, which leave me looking and feeling like a new man. *does a fresh-in-the-morning dance* So, this time, they have a 5-piece grooming gift set. It contains a Pre-Shave Scrub (125ml), a Shaving Cream (100ml), a Post-Shave Balm (125ml), a Beard Oil (50ml) and a soft Shaving Brush. All for a clean, smooth shaving experience!

Fewer Fine Lines.

My local favourite, Neal’s Yard Remedies, just launched a brand new Men’s Age-Defying Moisturiser! *hashtag no fine lines* This new moisturiser is rich in antioxidant cactus stem cells, which help to protect the skin against ageing and environmental stress. Also, the green tea caffeine helps to reduce the appearance of under eye bags. *yay* Therefore, this is a must-have grooming item for any self-conscious man.

Window to Your Soul.

Last week, I was at the London Fashion Week Men’s event and guys at Vogue Homme gave me a goody bag full of House 99 products. The line was created by David Beckham who’s been known to experiment with his look quite regularly. David’s been a true inspiration to millions of men worldwide. *including me, okurrr* So, I picked my favourite product from the lineup – the energising eye balm. Enriched with caffeine, this eye balm aims to reduce signs of fatigue, brightens and smooths the under-eye area. *no more dark circles* It’s a vital product of any skincare routine. *scrolls down to shop the essential set from House 99*

For and Unbeatable Beard.

Last but not least, we have a Beard Grooming Kit from Jack Black. This four-step beard care routine features everything needed to cleanse, condition, soften, and style. Therefore, every bearded gent would be delighted to receive this. Jack Black bear care products are also available at Mankind. Oh, and, you can find their travel kit at the bottom of this post as well. *yasss*

So, what do you think of this Father’s Day gift guide? Would you get any of these gift sets? Let me know in the comments section below!

Build the Tension

Vetiver Meets Grapefruit!

Recently, I had the opportunity to check out the latest and greatest from Molton Brown at one incredibly fun event! To support their latest “Vetiver & Grapefruit” collection, Molton Brown hosted a preview session at the lavish Mondrian London hotel. No one was ready for this ultimate smell and tasting experience. So, I cannot wait to tell you all about it now! *hashtag build the tension*

The fragrance expert, Virginie Danau, kicked off the night by introducing the new collection. She gave guests samples of both vetiver and grapefruit notes separately… So, they could better understand this contradictory yet fun pairing.

“Vetiver & Grapefruit has been skillfully constructed to play on contrasting aromatic materials: the warm sophistication of Haitian vetiver conflicts with the cool, tonic freshness of grapefruit resulting in a tense union. A closer look at vetiver oil reveals subtle grapefruit undertones – just enough to relieve this tension and convey a sense of effortless elegance. Enriched by the juiciness of lychee, floral accents of neroli and rose and livened up by the spice of white pepper and cardamom, the fragrance is highly addictive.” – Virginie Daniau, Fragrance Expert

I personally find this scent very innovative because it creates friction but finds a cultivating balance at the same time.

Cocktails with a twist…

Later in the evening, we were taken next door to a cocktail making class. *oh dear, I smell trouble* We had a chance to create 4 classic cocktails but with a #BuildTheTension twist. As someone who likes to enjoy a cocktail or two… I wasn’t good at creating a decent drink for everyone. *not ashamed to admit it* Nevertheless, I had a blast! *yay*

Molton Brown is one of my favourite brands out there. Their signature fragrances, shower gels, and hand care luxuries are always my top choice for any gifting occasion. Father’s Day is just around the corner, tho! *hint hint, nudge nudge*

Mennace for days!

Denim has always been a core item in my ever-expanding wardrobe. I always get a few pairs of jeans for every season because they are just so darn comfortable! *lives his best denim fantasy*

The other day, I popped into Mennace to stock up on some of my favourites for the summer. I snatched a pair of straight cropped jeans with a side stripe and complimented it with an orange tee and leather gladiator sandals. These cropped jeans have the perfect amount of stretch, which will fit you like a glove. Therefore, the overall look is great for a chilled Saturday afternoon, filled with bottomless prosecco and cakes because why not! *no regrets*

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I shot this look at Crossrail Place Roof Garden in Canary Wharf. Ed and I were celebrating the Royal Wedding with the royal afternoon tea by the docks. I mean… you can’t get any fancier than that!

So, what do you think of this look? Would you get any of these items from Mennace? Let me know in the comments section below!

Seashells and Sailors!

It’s been a week since I got back from sunny Portugal. I spent 10 days scouting around the artsy streets of Lisbon, eating my body weight in custard tarts and dancing to the cheesiest Eurovision songs. *Qélé, Qélé* Eurovision?! Yep, that’s right!

Last year, Salvador Sobral won the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, giving Portugal the opportunity to host this fabulous event in Lisbon. I remember watching Eurovision 2002 on telly and dreaming of seeing it live one day… So, 16 years later and I see myself waving my cute Lithuanian flag in the middle of Altice Arena. Who would have thought?! *ticks off his bucket list*

Apart from Eurovision, I was visiting my friend Carlota and her twin sister Constança. They live in Sintra which is about 30 minutes drive from Lisbon. From local fish markets to stunning beaches, I got to experience the authentic side of Portugal. Therefore, I’m super stoked to share some of my tips with you guys.

So, without further ado… Here’s my complete Lisbon city guide, featuring creamy custard tarts, jugs of sangria and everything else that is not related to Eurovision Song Contest. *hashtag booking his flight to Israel for 2019*

Food

  • Pastéis de Belém – the best custard tarts in town! Flaky on the outside but creamy on the inside, these treats are heavenly delicious. *yummm* However, I would advise you to go there early to avoid queues or get takeaway and enjoy them next to the Belém Tower. *note, taken*
  • The Decandente – if you’re looking for a lunch spot that won’t break the bank, this restaurant might be the one. You can get a three-course lunch for €13. You can thank me later. *wink*
  • Este Oeste Pizza Sushi Cafe – as a fan of both Italian and Japanese cuisine, I find fusion restaurants either hit or miss. *sue me* But Este Oeste is definitely a hit as it takes the best of both worlds and creates dishes worth coming back for.

Drink

  • Topo – happy hour drinks with stunning views? Yep, that’s the one!
(p.s. Netta Barzilai from Israel shot part of her Eurovision postcard on this rooftop bar)
  • PARK – great place to start your night out in Lisbon. DJ plays some Kaytranada and some sick tunes from the “Room 2” playlist on Spotify. Therefore, you’re in for a treat. *dances like his rent is due* Oh, and, order a glass of Poncha – it’s delish!
  • Trumps – the only gay bar in Lisbon that matters. *brings his sass on* It gets pretty crowded over the weekend but drinks are very affordable and drag acts will keep you entertained until early hours the next day!

Touristy Things

  • São Jorge Castle – if there’s one touristy thing to do in Lisbon – that should be it. I spent a good few hours exploring the castle and its surroundings. STUN!
  • LxFactory – Lisbon’s answer to Wynwood. *c’mon, hipsters* Expect quirky art galleries, epic graffiti walls and sculptures that are larger than life!
  • Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) – as a huge fan of art museums, I was a bit disappointed. Not because of the actual place but by the fact that I went there on Tuesday – when it was closed! *sad face* Nevertheless, there is always something going on, not to mention the whole building being super instagrammable. *doing it for the gram*

Outside Lisbon

  • Restaurante Toscano – fresh local fish restaurant, serving you more than just tilapia. This is a great lunch spot if you’re around Cascais and looking to indulge in a Portuguese kitchen. *enough with custard tarts*
  • Cascais Beach – salt in the air, sand in my hair. YASSS!
  • Sintra – pretty little historic town on the hill with a gorgeous castle and tons of authentic souvenir shops. Perfect day out on a Sunday? *hmmm*

Thinking about the Big Apple…

First and foremost, I would like to apologise to y’all for not being active on my blog recently. *feels guilty* I’ve been so busy with everything that I didn’t have much time to really sit down and put together a nicely written blog post. So, I hope you can forgive me?!  I (pinky) promise to post more frequently and keep you guys up to date with all things Mr. Salt and Pepper. Perhaps it’s time for a little revamp?

Anyways… During my stay in New York, I discovered so many new songs that I was dying to share with you lot for weeks. Therefore, I packed the 10th edition of “Spice and Shuffle” playlist series with songs inspired by the Big Apple and our fast-approaching summer 2018! *summer jams are in order*

Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris are my artists of the month. Their latest collab, One Kiss, is already topping the charts all over the world and it’s my ultimate guilty pleasure. *not ashamed* I also added new songs from Friendly Fires, Miike Snow, Years & Years, Little Dragon and The Weeknd to name a few. With 35 songs, it’s the biggest “Spice and Shuffle” playlist yet! *calls for a mini celebration*

So, without further distractions – here’s “Spice and Shuffle 10“. I hope you like it!

Don’t forget to follow Mr. Salt and Pepper’s Spotify profile to stay up-to-date with the latest music. I’m always up for hearing new music. So, please feel free to email me your suggestions!
