When it’s time for wine, say hello to Gallo!

I absolutely love spending time on the rooftop. After a long day, I get super excited to come home to my own personal oasis with a glass of wine. Here I can share the excitement and joy with people that matter to me the most.

Last week, I invited Gabriele (@gabrielegz) and Justina (@itsjustinesjournal) over for a wine and pizza chillout. The weather was good enough for us to just sit outside and enjoy a bottle of smooth and aromatic Merlot. It was so great to pair the wine with two loaded pizzas… Because those are two of my favourite things in the world! *duh*

Gabriele, Justina and I haven’t seen each other for ages. Therefore, I was so excited to come home and catch up. The smooth and aromatic taste of Gallo’s Merlot really set the mood for the evening, especially with added mouth-watering hints of black fruits and raspberry. *yummm*

The best-kept secret of the Forest of Dean.

For those who follow me on Instagram, you are fully aware that a week ago I was living my true country boy fantasy in Gloucestershire, UK. I joined forces with Ollie (@ByOllieB) and Victoria (@Philorose) to experience The Forest of Dean, spend a couple of nights in the historic landmark and taste the best local dishes. We showcased our latest fashions and collaborations, as well as got to know each other a little bit more. *squad game strong*

During our stay at The Speech House Hotel, we decided to explore the area and see what else was in store for us. Luckily, our pretty little ray of light, Victoria Ambrosino, found Tudor Farmhouse. *claps* It’s a fabulous countryside retreat located in Forest of Dean, Coleford. The place offers 20 instagrammable lofts, cottages and rooms, as well as a mouth-watering seasonal menu with a modern twist.

Right at the back, we explored The Lofts and it completely changed the way we see British country getaways. With large oak doors, high ceilings with exposed beams, the loft (pictured below) looks very spacious and cosy. Therefore, I wanted to stay here forever! *starts planning his countryside living*

Culinary Oasis.

In the evening, we had the opportunity to try their six-course tasting menu. Tudor Farmhouse uses only the finest seasonal ingredients. Therefore, the whole menu was compiled from the fresh, organic and local produce. To enhance this whole experience, all six meals were accompanied with a flight of matching wines from all over the world. So, I was preparing myself for this moment… Since birth, pretty much. We kick started our evening with some cocktails. I opted for the Old Fashioned (pictured below). *d’oh*

During our dinner, I really enjoyed the roasted carrot, raisin, lime, nasturtium, complimented with the Royal Tokaji “The Oddity” Dry Furmint wine (pictured below). It really set the tone for dishes to follow.

The peak of this whole experience was when they brought the Roasted Gloucester Old Spot pork belly, apple purée, turnips, scallops & ginger jus with Barbera Briccotondo “Fontanafredda” wine. At that point, I was telling all of my secrets to my blogging pals. Oooh! *tries to drink more water in order to find his way back*

If you’re visiting The Forrest of Dean, I strongly recommend you to visit Tudor Farmhouse for dinner and a cosy little stay in the country house. So, I’m hoping to come back at some point very soon. Perhaps, a romantic getaway? Who knows! *hopeless romantic*

Smoky Tennessee

On a mission to cure our Sunday hangovers.

This past weekend I invited a couple of my friends from Folkstone (@tobyvincer and @aarionbakerhair) to stay over at mine. *party time* We had some catch up time and drinks at my place, then we hit a couple of bars in Soho… And by a couple, I mean, we twerked the night away at nightclubs! *shots shots shots* Ahhh, at that point, I felt so sorry for the hangover-the-next-day-self. *ouch*

To me, Sundays are usually reserved for binge-watching Netflix on the sofa, long hangover walks around the neighbourhood or just anything that doesn’t require a lot of thinking. Therefore, I invited Ollie Burton (@ByOllieB) from ByOllieB blog to join us for a burger feast at Honest Burgers in Soho. From BBQ chicken wings to signature burgers, we pretty much ordered everything that was on the menu. Just look at the pictures – it was hard to say no to any of that!

In a great tradition of “oh my god, I need to hair-of-the-dog this hangover immediately“, I ordered several cocktails to kick start our Sunday lunch. Some of you may not know this, but I’m a huge fan of Whisky Sour. So, I tried Kentucky Tea Sour and their signature The Honest Club cocktail with the exceptionally fresh cucumber taste. It didn’t take much longer for my hangover to just sashay away.

Burger from the South.

Guys at Honest Burgers insisted we should try their monthly special – the Tennesee burger. Juicy beef patty, coated with smoked bacon and double American cheese. Also, added onion rings, French’s BBQ sauce and, Memphis mayonnaise to really give that sweet southern charm. Basically, it was not a burger – it was a BEAST! *food coma alert*

The Tennessee burger is currently available at most Honest restaurants until Monday, 11th of September. So, if you haven’t had a chance to try this one, you better get to it!

PITCH Stratford

A brand new open air space in East London.

For those who watch my daily Instagram stories, it may come as no surprise but for those who are yet to discover that side of me, I have a confession to make… Are you ready? *takes a deep breath* Erm, you see, the thing is… I love food. I mean, I eat all the time! From dirty American burgers to classic fish and chips, I often plea for help for my perfectly imbalanced diet. *avoids checking his weight on scales*

On Friday, I got invited to an influencer event at PITCH Stratford. Tucked away a few minutes down the road from Stratford station, this colourful outdoor oasis serves some serious 80s and 90s vibes. Abstract lighting, geometric shapes, and vibrant colours really set the tone for this venue. Therefore, we were all feeling our throwback oats! *plays “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa and prances around the venue*

Gourmet hot dogs and bottomless prosecco.

During our visit at PITCH Stratford, we were offered a selection of quality street food and drinks. My blogger friends and I opted for some gourmet hot dogs from Tico’s and the most delicious dumplings from The Gyoza Guys. Jugs of PIMM’s and bottomless Prosecco enhanced our experience, whilst the DJ kept us entertained until late hours on a Friday. *dances like nobody is watching*

On Wednesday and Sunday evenings, PITCH Stratford shows a variety of films from the 80s, 90s and today. It’s almost the end of the season, so… Grab a bean bag, put on wireless headphones and enjoy a glass of rosé in this fabulous open air space. I believe that this might be the perfect spot to take my new flame to. *zero new messages on Tinder*

Talisker Whisky x Oliver Sweeney

It’s London Food Month! That time of the year when I eat my body weight in oysters and premium spirits. *no regrets* It’s crazy but so worth it!

On Tuesday evening, I stopped by Oliver Sweeney’s Covent Garden branch with my friend Stuart Honey, Head of Markering at LGBT+ event ticketing platform Outsavvy. We had the opportunity to explore Oliver Sweeney’s SS17 collection and experience their unique collaboration with Talisker – a single malt Scotch Whisky distillery.

The luxury British menswear designer Oliver Sweeney partnered with Talisker Whisky to celebrate their achievements in quality and craftsmanship. Oliver Sweeney’s CEO, Tim Cooper, wowed us by announcing the release of the “Made By the Sea” gift box. Designed with the adventurer in mind, their limited edition boots feature a uniquely positioned pocket to hold a small stainless steel hipflask. The boots are presented in a solid oak box alongside Talisker’s signature 10-year-old whisky bottle. Perfect for Father’s Day!

An unexpected twist.

Later in the evening, we’ve been given a “How to Taste Whisky” demonstration by Talisker Whisky brand ambassador David Sinclair. Talisker’s infamous 10-year-old Scotch Whisky is known for its sea-salt flavour, which gives a smooth but smoky finish. David hinted that there was no Tabasco or spices on the tasting tables but for all the right reasons. They promised us to give an unexpected twist to this tasting experience. Intrigued!

After the presentation, we shimmied our way to three tasting tables. Each table has been paired with the finest oysters provided by Oystermen. This is a new Oyster Bar opening shortly, across the street. As you can imagine, I was like a kid in a candy store! It was really hard for me to pick just one favourite. However, the way I consume oysters has now changed forever. Who needs spices when you can enrich your pallet with a smooth 10-year old Talisker Scotch Whisky?! *becomes whisky drinker instantly*
